The Language Chronicles: El Choro Lingüístico 💬

Creo que todos sabemos que al guajolote o pavo  se le llama " turkey " en inglés. Es prácticamente el personaje central en la temporada de Acción de Gracias o Thanksgiving , y en EE. UU., el presidente en turno le perdona la vida a uno de ellos en televisión cada año - lo sé, es una tradición rara para muchos de nosotros. Sin embargo, ¿sabías que tiene muchísimos nombres, dependiendo del país donde se le haya bautizado? Empecemos por el país que le da el nombre en inglés y de ahí, bajemos por una lista bastante loca de apelativos para esta fea, pero nutritiva, ave:  En Turquía se conoce como  hindi .  En Francia se hace llamar  dinde (o sea, "d'Inde" o de la India), así como en los Països Catalans , gall   dindi o "gallo de la India". En Israel,  también   es tarnegol hodu , o "gallo de la India". En Grecia se  llama  galopoula , o "gallina francesa". En los países árabes  es conocido como  dik rumi , o "gallina romana"

I shared my story with a senator (about the DREAM ACT) over his website, which I want to share with everyone on my Facebook account: I lived for 10 years in the USA, from the age of 12 to 22. Then I moved to Mexico (I left by my own will) knowing that I was not going to be able to come back soon.
